GYANJYOTI is a National Programme of Information Technology, Education and Development. It is an Autonomous Institution registered under S.R. Act XXI of 1860 was established in May, 2013 to strengthen the need of computer education in North East India. The quality management services of the institution is ISO 9001 : 2015 certified by accredited body of American Board of Accreditation Services too.
A need for the distinct institution specialized in technical education was realised, which would be responsible for providing computer education especially for the North Eastern States of India. It was also noticed that the purely practical-based professional computer education provided earlier, by some sub-experienced professionals would not meet the growing needs for training modern computer professionals.
The institute was expected to solve the need of providing training to the students who want to start a career in computer & vocational courses. To fulfill these objectives, the institute was expected to operate as a resource, providing employment generation in the field of technical education. The institute was expected to run as a centre of excellence for studies in professional and vocational courses.
Improvements so far :
The institute conducts 100+ Diploma and other courses. The institute so far trained over 5000+ students, half of which got employment in different companies, banks and government departments like Oil India Limited, Hindustan Lever Ltd., Wrigleys, SSA etc. and over 1000 students are self employed.
One major dimension of the institute has been its regional role, and its teaching had attracted students from the entire Northeast region. The institute has also undertaken collaborative education by some franchisees. Currently it is going to set up 200+ centres in the entire Northeast region. For the benefit of the students GYANJYOTI had published books on Computer Fundamentals, DTP, Spoken English and Internet.
While progresses have been made in number of directions, which has earned acknowledgments from the society and has put GYANJYOTI on the map of the institutions devoted to the strengthening technical and vocational education for the society in the region.
